The idea behind world-famous brand Prada was conceived in 1913, when a family shop with travel bags and suitcases was opened in Milan. It belonged to Mario Prada. Over the years, the family business has grown into a brand offering only bags and other luxury travel items. In 1958 Louise Prada, the founder’s daughter, became the head of the company. Following this the brand expanded its sales boundaries, becoming part of the international market. In 1979, Miuccia Prada inherited the family business. The first pret-a-porte collection of 1989 captured the hearts of fashionistas through the use of seasoned colors, simple and feminine styles without excessive decor or ornamentation.
